Waiting for a King
I write this as election results slowly trickle in. Maybe when you read this we’ll know who won the US Presidential election. Maybe it will take another couple weeks. Either way, we can rest in the fact that God is in control.
As the election outcomes start to take shape, I can't help but think about the potential impact on the causes that I deeply care about. The policies and decisions made by the upcoming administration will undoubtedly have far-reaching effects on issues such as the protection of human life and the values that align with my faith.
Despite the weight of these concerns, I find solace in knowing that God's sovereignty surpasses any political outcome. My faith in God's wisdom and overarching plan remains unshaken, regardless of the election results.
From my perspective, this is an important election and the results matter. From God’s perspective, which is far more important, God is still sovereign no matter what the next four years bring us.
Romans 13 reminds us that no one gets political power unless God allows it.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
If Trump wins, God ordained it.
If Harris wins, God ordained it.
If we have a few weeks of political upheaval, God ordained it.
While I know that is true, it’s hard to swallow. As I mentioned, I have strong opinions and worry what will happen if the “other candidate” wins. I know what I think is best for the country…but I also know that God knows better.
the outcome, I’m committed to a few things.
I will pray for the president.
I will advocate for the life of the unborn.
I will preach the gospel, even if there are consequences.
I will live a life that clearly shows that Jesus is King.
As we navigate the uncertainty and anxieties that come with a presidential election, we can find peace in knowing that God is ultimately in control. However, we must also recognize the potential impact on the causes and values we hold dear.
In the midst of differing opinions and potential division, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of unity and respectful discourse, irrespective of the election outcome. No matter who is elected, we can commit to pray for our leaders, advocate for important causes, and continue to live out our faith in a way that reflects the kingship of Jesus. Through our actions and attitudes, may we embody unity.
With You;
