Why Do We Talk about Jesus?

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. - 1 John 1:3

In a world where many view evangelism as pushy or forceful, it's easy to question why we talk about Jesus at all. However, the true essence of evangelism lies not in imposing our beliefs on others but in sharing a profound truth that has transformed our lives.

Imagine you've just had an incredible dining experience at a renowned restaurant. Would you keep it to yourself, savoring the memory in private? Or would you naturally want to share your culinary adventure with others, eagerly recommending the restaurant and painting vivid pictures of your dining delight?

Similarly, have you ever read a captivating book or watched a mind-blowing movie? Did you suppress the urge to discuss the book's insightful themes or the movie's captivating plot? Of course not! The experience is simply too remarkable to keep hidden.

When the first Matrix. A friend of mine saw it three nights in a row and kept gushing about it. His words failed him to describe the plot. Finally, in frustration, he simply pleaded, "You just have to go see it for yourself!"

This is the essence of John's approach in the opening of his first epistle. He doesn't write as a religious propagandist, forcing an agenda. Instead, he writes with the fervor of someone who has experienced something truly extraordinary, something he can't help but share with others.

Reflect on your own faith journey. Do you share Jesus with the same sense of wonder and passion? Is your evangelism motivated by a deep desire to see others experience the joy and transformation you've found in Christ? Or has it become another religious obligation, a chore to check off your list?

This week, immerse yourself in the book of 1 John. Seek to recapture that sense of awe and wonder that John exudes. Remember, we don't talk about Jesus because we have to; we talk about him because he's amazing, he's changed our lives, and we want others to have that same experience.

Let your evangelism reflect the genuine excitement and joy you've found in Christ. Share your story with others, not as a means to convert or impress, but as an invitation to join you on a journey of profound transformation and spiritual fulfillment.

With You;
Pastor Tim
